My go-to place for a delicious acai bowl is Bowl of Heaven in Madison, Wisconsin. My friends and I enjoy calling an Uber on a Sunday morning and grabbing some heaven before condemning ourselves to hell (College library).
Acai is a SWEET way to add antioxidants to your diet! Our bodies naturally produce free radicals and naturally occurring antioxidants, which reverse the negative effects of free radicals. Because there are often more radicals than antioxidants, our bodies need an external source, thats when this delicious berries come in to help!
From the health benefits to the taste, these smoothie bowls are a WINNER! I prefer the powdered form but it also can be ingested through teas, purees, capsules, and juices. After eating the bowls at school, I decided to make one myself.
I created a recipe that focuses on taste and avoiding an energy crash after the blood glucose levels drop. In order to mellow out the “spike” in blood sugar, I add protein powder, or peanut butter. Here is the recipe I use to create this beauty!!
RECIPE:
2 T acai powder
1 cup mixed frozen berries
1/2 cup almond milk
1 scoop protein powder
Handful of spinach
Toppings (optional):
Sliced banana
Slivered almonds
Hemp seeds
Berries
Cacao nibs
Chia seeds
Honey
