It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
Starting December 22nd when I step foot out of my Food Sci 301 final and into the winter break FREEDOM!!
After December 22nd, I will “finally” – hah – have time to watch Christmas movies and get in the spirit. Only issue? I have about two days to do so…
In about a week, I will be drowning myself in Starbucks cold brew coffee as I swim in a sea of organic chemistry, mhr, food science, and marketing papers. And yes – I do still drink iced coffee in the winter. Other than the adorable Starbucks holiday cups, I’m not very interested in their hot coffee.
I am extremely sensitive to hot drinks and will burn my tongue if it is slightly above lukewarm temperature, so I stick to iced coffee.
To my surprise, most students in college also prefer iced coffee over cold, despite the bitter cold Wisconsin winters. During finals, you will always hear other students walking around the library by their ice hitting the side of their cup – it’s kinda like a reindeer with a bell collar.
So, what happens when you want to get in the spirit of X-mas ( & get a caffeine buzz ) during finals BUT don’t want to burn your tongue off in the adorable holiday cup?? You drink a cold brew peppermint mocha.
Tis the szn!
Recipe
10 oz cold brew
splash of peppermint extract
one packet stevia
1/3 cup milk
1/2 T cocoa
Directions
Heat milk in a saucepan and add cocoa. Whisk until consistent. Pour over cold brew and mix in stevia and peppermint extract. Top off with a candy can!
If you don’t have cold brew, you can also use regular coffee and add THESE Coffee Ice Cubes to your mocha!
xx
